You will be responsible for the day to day running of a supported living house, providing assistance to people with autism, mental health and learning disabilities.
The support you provide will develop confidence and build everyday skills based on the customer’s interests, goals and aspirations. The style of service delivery for this service will be “to do things with,” rather than “do things for.”
You will lead on this approach and work with the staff to ensure this approach is adopted throughout the team. This will be achieved by working effectively with the team to provide high quality, progressive and flexible services, which recognise and respond to the customer’s needs and rights and enhances their quality of life.
You will support the team in developing meaningful working relationships with customers and assist in the development of communication skills, promoting individual choice and decision making. In this way, the customers will be supported to develop confidence, individuality and purpose.
You will provide a needs-led service to the customers by adopting a person-centred approach that fosters self-awareness, personal growth and gives each person the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices.
You will support the Manager in all aspects of the running of the house, including taking complete charge during their absence.
You are to mentor and support care staff in all aspects of their work, to explain anything they do not understand and to show how standards can be improved.
You must lead by example, acting as a positive role model at all times.
Experience of care planning, reviewing support needs and knowledge of DoLS around supporting customers with dual diagnosis
Excellent interpersonal skills on both individual and group levels.
Sound experience of day centre and outreach work and implementing creative activity programmes.
At least 2 years’ experience of working with people with autism, mental health or learning disabilities.
Experience of medication management in it’s entirety
Experience of Person Centred Care and planning.
Experience of leading, mentoring and developing team.
Experience of implementing an effective key working.
Knowledge & Qualifications:
A good understanding of the needs of people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health and ability to adopt different approaches to managing their needs.
Have a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care with a willingness to gain other qualifications
A thorough understanding of current CQC regulations.
Willingness to complete personal development goals and mandatory training as required.
