Civil Enforcement Officer

Job Purpose

To represent the Council in a professional manner and to enforce parking regulations in a courteous and even handed manner in the area patrolled.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

·         To enforce all on-street permitted parking regulations in all controlled zones, in accordance with the Traffic Management Act

·         To issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCN’s) to vehicles found to be in contravention of the parking regulations

·         To record, report and take appropriate action on any defects found in street furniture, including signs and road markings, or any suspect vehicles in accordance with Council procedure

·         To attend when necessary adjudication hearings to give supporting information in connection with contested PCN’s

·         To represent the Council by promoting good public relations, providing advice and information concerning parking related matters, to members of the public whenever asked, in a courteous and considerate manner

·         To use your radio and HHCT equipment in a proper manner in accordance with procedures and safeguard same from damage and misuse

·         To ensure copies of all PCN or Warning Notice tickets are printed and handed in with all necessary paperwork at the end of each shift or working day

·         To ensure beat patterns, if used, are followed as instructed by your Supervisor/Manager

·         To ensure any difficulties or problems occurring during the course of a normal working day are reported to your Senior CEO/Supervisor and to log all such reports in your pocket book and if necessary Incident Report

·         Patrol and enforce parking regulations at nominated local authority Car Parks.

·         Carry out first line maintenance on car park P&D machines (coin jams, ticket replenishment etc.), reporting more complicated faults for repair.

·         As required assist in cash collection from car park machines.

·         To report for duty on time, wearing full uniform and be well groomed and of smart appearance.

·         As requested drive company vehicles on business in accordance with policy and procedure.
