Junior Care Assistant

JOB15 | Full Time

Location: Ruislip | United Kingdom

Salary: 7.50 / Hour

Main Responsibility

1.       Help patients to look after themselves and maintain their personal hygiene. To wash and bathe the patient, in bed or in the bathroom. To care for patients’ mouth, hair, nails and pressure areas. To help patients to dress and undress and all other aspects of daily living.

2.       To help serve meals / beverages and assist with feeding as required. (be aware of swallowing difficulties , dietary requirement, etc). To ensure that patients are given appropriate food and nutritional information and to any problems to the relevant professional. Wash up as required.

3.       To give help and support to patients to be as comfortable as possible and to ensure that they are able to rest.

4.       To give, collect and clean bedpans and urinals. To assist the patients to and from the toilet. To care for incontinent patients. To empty urine drainage bags. To record fluid balance. To assist in the promotion of continence care.

5.       To care for the patients’ bed space including tidying, cleaning the bed and locker and any other furniture as necessary.

6.       To help patients pack and unpack clothing in admission, transfer or discharge (or death). To help care for property.

7.       Assist in framework of social activities by interacting with Clients and helping them continue with hobbies and activities.

8.       To help patients who have limited mobility to move and prepare them for lifting. To lift and turn the patients and care for pressure care areas using appropriate equipment.

9.       Assist Clients in aspects of their care needs (e.g. physical, emotional and spiritual). Provide attention when needed, whilst ensuring Clients retain their comfort and dignity.

10.   Observe care planning needs for Clients and complete written daily records as instructed and in line with the Home’s policies and procedures.

11.   Answer Nurse Call System, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly, and pass on messages promptly.
