SAP Functional Analyst - TfL - Immediate Start

SAP is the preferred ERP solution which enables all business critical back office operations (Finance, Procurement, HR, Payroll etc) and on which TfL and the wider GLA family is wholly reliant. The IM SAP Functional Analyst is accountable for providing the day-to-day SAP Incident support for the TfL user community and assist the progression of SAP change as required for the highly complex, sophisticated and technical SAP estate. The role holder is responsible for efficient and speedy resolution of problems and incidents, including critical incidents which could impact the operations of back office processes which are reliant upon the smooth running of the SAP system. The role holder has a critical role to play in ensuring there is no loss in SAP functionality during upgrade, patching, support pack or similar change activity which could result in service disruption and impacts to business processes which are reliant upon the SAP system.

The role-holder will liaise with IM and all third-party suppliers involved in IM infrastructure service delivery for the agreed functional discipline. This role provides business-critical support and, therefore, the role holder may be required to: work additional hours at short notice; work on a shift rota; and provide on-call cover on a 24 x 7 basis. The role holder is accountable for meeting their team objectives, ensuring a customer service culture across IM and collaborating with colleagues within, and outside the IM organisation in a manner that builds and sustains strong partnerships and ways of working between IM and other TfL departments. The role holder must embrace and consistently demonstrate TfL’s key behaviours; being accountable, getting the right things done efficiently, working collaboratively to do it, directly, fairly and consistently.

Responsibilities

- Use judgement and experience to manage an efficient and accurate Incident Resolution Management process:
- Monitor SAP incidents in a proactive way to minimise the occurrence of system down-time and act as an escalation point to the third party service provider.
- Complete change work at the direction of the SAP Functional Lead.
- Follow the defined SAP Bug Fix and SAP enhancement processes with system fixes and developments, including approved configuration when required.
- Pro actively manage the locally held SAP functional knowledge repository.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Credible and approachable with a positive “can do” attitude and a flexible approach especially to sharing SAP functional knowledge with other team members;
  • High degree of accuracy, with good attention to detail;
  • Ability to provide suitable solutions based on information available;
  • Functional expertise in at least three of the following SAP HCM (Human Capital Management) areas:
  • Functional knowledge of at least two of the following SAP Functional areas
  • Reporting (covering all aspects of SAP BI or Business Objects);
  • Hands on experience of SAP as end user or support/development is essential;
  • Working knowledge of SAP technologies is desirable;
  • Understanding of the role SAP plays within the organisation is desirable;
  • Previous working as part of a SAP support function would be desirable;
  • Working Knowledge of Remedy would be an advantage;
  • Must be a strong team player but also able to work independently;
  • The relevant national and international legislation pertaining to the Government/Public Sector IT – e.g. Data Protection Act, EU Procurement Directives and Freedom of Information Act; and
  • Full understanding of the SAP change and release cycle.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills;
  • Strong communication skills - able to converse with end users to query / obtain the required information;
  • Strong listening and problem solving skills – able to synthesise information and resolve issues;
  • Strong time management and solid organisation skills
  • Commitment to 1st class customer services and a customer focused attitude;
  • Strong communication and people skills, including an excellent telephone manner;
  • Ability to perform SAP HR configuration and analysis:
  • Proven experience of and ability to liaise with business representatives when system enhancements or changes are required;
  • Proven experience of diagnosing problems / issues and how to resolve them; and
  • Proven experience of analysing information from a variety of sources and prioritising actions appropriately.
