Database Administrator

JOB72 | Full Time

Location: Birmingham | UK

Salary: 42k / Year Bonus, Commissions

An opportunity has arisen for a Database Administrator (DBA) to join a busy and lively Operations team. As an experienced DBA you will have full ownership of data support. You will apply your in-depth specialist knowledge and skills to fully manage successful day to day operation of your databases. You will set standards, maintain reporting, troubleshoot the wider BI infrastructure and resolve any problems quickly where necessary. 

You will set standards and ensure compliance for data analysis tools, techniques, their application, database objects and agree policies for future database development and functional areas such as system security. Work with developers and vendors to troubleshoot performance issues,

With your excellent customer service skills you will work with many users to define their needs for O/DBMS and other DB tools. You will assess feasibility of any potential solution and then demonstrate, install and commission any selected product along with making any bespoke customisation that may be necessary.

You will manage database resources, including the allocation of system storage and ensure that database problems are investigated, diagnosed and resolved. You will monitor trends in database activity and ensures efficient access to data and optimise database performance. You will plan to ensure backup and recovery procedures are in place and are tested regularly and implement recovery procedures when necessary.

As this is a friendly and collaborative team with a positive culture you will need to have good interpersonal skills and have a good standard of written and verbal communication. You will be highly motivated and pragmatic and responsible for managing projects from inception right through to delivery.

You will need to be highly experienced in the following technologies and techniques
MS SQL
Oracle DBA Suite
UNIX and/or LINUX O/S
Data Warehouse Extract/Load routines.
T-SQL querying, stored procedures, indexes, views, etc;
