Salary: £50k / Year

A Category Manager job in Manchester offering up to £50,000 dependant on experience for a blue chip company.


Your new company
A leading global blue chip organisation based in Manchester with excellent internal culture and employee moral. They have a vacancy for a focussed Category Manager to look after IT and Media spend due to spend growth within the organisation and investment in the Procurement Team. 

Your new role
You will lead the IT, media and marketing procurement category and will be responsible for driving commercial value and operational benefits. This will be achieved through developing and executing new category strategies, delivery of embedded governance and controls, a culture of process improvement and adding value through supplier relationship management. You will manage stakeholder relationships internally within the business across the group, representing their interests and working closely together on project expenditure. You will be accountable for delivering cost saving initiatives and value add activity. You will manage the end to end process of procurement including the sourcing strategy inclusive of market analysis. 

What you'll need to succeed
You will either be an experienced category manager or you will be an experienced ambitious procurement professional looking to develop into a more senior position from a role such as a senior buyer. You will have had exposure to the categories IT, Media and Marketing or have strong experience in one of these spend categories and have an understanding of the others. You will be passionate about procurement and will have a commercial acumen.  You will have the ability to use your own initiative as there are opportunities (due to it being a greenfield role) for you to put your own stamp on it. You will have excellent communication skills internally and externally and will be comfortable presenting to senior team members. You will be comfortable working on IT systems including Microsoft Office and an ERP system.
