Unit Manager

Salary: 17 / Hour

Our Client is in need of a Unit Manager. Candidate must be flexible and someone who enjoys working in a service that puts the client at the centre of what he/she does.

Job Purpose

To deliver high standards of care [by providing support to employees through training and guidance] whilst supporting through independence and choice the residents ability to live in a homely environment which promotes excellent customer relationships.

 

Qualifications, Training and Experience

 ·         Leadership and Management qualification
 
·         Nursing Registration with NMC
 
·         Ability to motivate and communicate effectively at all levels.


Principal Accountabilities and Activities

·         Act in accordance with the NMC code of professional conduct.
·         Devise, write and review effective care plans for residents, paying particular attention to communicating information about residents to other         members of staff especially as shifts change.
·         Keep strict control of and be responsible for the administration of drugs in accordance with the drugs policy in your area. Be responsible for the correct ordering procedure of drugs and other supplies.
·         Recruit, lead, manage and motivate staff of varying skill levels.
·         Liaise regularly with appropriate medical practitioners ensuring appropriate care and monitoring of resident's condition.
·         Supervises the professional work of nurses and care assistants through a constructive Employee Support Framework of training, meetings and 1:1 activities but not limiting these too the aforementioned.
·         Assist in the development of the individual staff member thus enhancing improved standards of care.
·         Provide advice and clinical updating to all nursing staff to enable them to perform their role to the best of their ability.
·         To ensure the day to day running of the care aspects of the home is in accordance with management policies, quality systems and to ensure compliance with statutory bodies.
·         Participate in the induction, training, and motivation of staff as necessary.
·         To assist in the maintenance of a Safe and Healthy Working Environment by ensuring adherence to the Health & Safety and Welfare policies and procedures.
·         To prepare and implement a staff rota that ensures the safety and well-being of both staff and residents
·         To manage staff sickness and absence ensuring the shifts are covered at all times
·         To attend meetings and reviews when requested within reason of given shift pattern
·         To maintain own education ensuring that you are fully updated with the NMC and carry a valid PIN number. That your revalidation is carried out within the appropriate time frames
·         Deal with and refer to senior management any breach of conduct by an employee
